Unlock the full potential of your data career
An exclusive partnership between SDSU's Fowler College of Business and Joon Solutions — a Google Cloud Premier Partner. You'll use AI every day alongside our engineering team, building real business outcomes from week one.
The first step on your professional career
The Joon × SDSU partnership is built to solve a real problem: students struggle to land that first job without experience, and experience requires a job. This program is the bridge. Work on live client projects, get paid above minimum wage, and build a portfolio that speaks for itself.
Real work. Real pay. Real outcomes.
You'll work daily with AI tools alongside Joon's engineering team, contributing to real Fortune 500 client projects. This isn't an internship where you shadow someone — you'll own deliverables, publish case studies, and be evaluated for a full-time role when it's over. Compensation is above minimum wage, and the schedule is output-based, not clock-based, so you can balance your academics.
- Build and deploy semantic data layers in Looker and BigQuery
- Contribute to ML pipelines and AI-powered decision models
- Co-author two client-ready case studies for your portfolio
- Attend the exclusive Googleplex headquarters visit in Mountain View
- Earn an official Google industry certification during your tenure
- Work output-based hours that flex around your academic schedule

Everything you need to compete at the top
We started this program after presenting on AI at SDSU and hearing from students how hard it is to get that first professional entry. Every benefit below was designed with that single problem in mind.
Real Enterprise Projects
Work on live Fortune 500 client projects from day one. Joon works with companies daily on AI and data — you'll be part of that team, not a bystander.
Google Certification
Walk away with a recognized Google Cloud certification — a credential that signals technical credibility from your first interview.
Expert Mentorship
Work directly with Joon's data engineers and AI consultants on real deliverables. Our team works closely with Google on a weekly basis — you'll have access to that expertise.
Published Portfolio
Co-author two professional case studies with Joon's team — real consulting work you can show any future employer as your own published work.
Googleplex Visit
An exclusive trip to Google's Mountain View headquarters. Network with Google engineers and see enterprise AI at full scale.
Full-Time Pipeline
Joon is in high-growth mode. Every intern is rigorously evaluated for full-time roles at the end of the 6-month cohort. We built this to hire from it.
Work inside a Google Premier Partner
Joon Solutions holds Google Cloud Premier Partner status with specializations in Data Analytics and Marketing Analytics. Our team works with Google every week — you'll use the same tools and have access to the same partner network.
Googleplex Headquarters Visit
Experience Google's Mountain View campus, meet their engineering teams, and see how data products are built at scale.
Google Cloud Certification
Earn a recognized certification — BigQuery, Looker, or Cloud Digital Leader — that signals real-world expertise to every employer.
Premier Partner Stack Access
Work with Looker, BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Google Analytics 4 — tools used by the world's largest data-driven organizations.
Direct Google Networking
Face-to-face introductions to Google's partner ecosystem. Conversations that don't happen on LinkedIn.
Data Analytics & Marketing Analytics specializations — placing Joon among the top tier of Google Cloud partners globally.
We built this for three kinds of SDSU students
Open to all SDSU students, primarily promoted through the Fowler College of Business. No single major required — CS, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, and related disciplines are all strong fits. Future cohorts will also be promoted through Handshake.
Data-Curious & Business-Minded
You love finding patterns in data and want to understand how business decisions get made. You're comfortable in Excel and eager to go further.
Builder Who Wants Scale
You write code and want to see it run in production. You're drawn to cloud infrastructure, pipelines, and systems that handle real volume.
Excited About What's Next
You want to work on AI and ML projects that actually ship — not toy examples. You're ready to learn how real enterprise AI gets deployed.
Four steps from today to your first day
Submit Your Application
Apply through the Fowler College of Business newsletter, our Handshake listing, or directly via joonsolutions.com. Tell us your background, your goals, and what you've built.
Discovery Interview
A 30-minute conversation with Jonathan or Jason from the Joon team. We care about how you think, not whether you can recite sorting algorithms.
Technical Assessment
A short, practical task — a dataset to explore or a business question to answer. Real work, not trick questions.
Offer & Onboarding
Accepted candidates receive an offer above minimum wage. No formal service learning agreement required — just show up ready to work. The program is not offered for academic credit.
The 2026 cohort is now forming
We keep cohorts intentionally small so mentorship stays real and every intern gets meaningful work. Current candidates have already been identified — but the door is open. Apply now through Handshake or directly through Joon, and send us a link to your work.
FAQ
Is this internship paid?
Yes. Joon's philosophy is that unpaid work doesn't reflect the real value of what you contribute. Compensation is above SDSU's minimum wage threshold and is discussed at the offer stage. Because students are not receiving academic credit, no service learning agreement is required.
Do I need prior work experience in data?
Not necessarily. We look for students with strong fundamentals — SQL, Python basics, and an analytical mindset. Relevant coursework, personal projects, or academic research all count. We care more about how you think than what tools you've already used.
Is this remote, hybrid, or in-person?
Hybrid, based in San Diego. Because performance is measured by output rather than hours, there's significant flexibility for students to balance coursework. The Googleplex visit to Mountain View is a program milestone included for all interns.
What majors are eligible to apply?
Primarily promoted through Fowler College of Business, but open to all SDSU students. Business Analytics, Information Systems, CS, Statistics, and related fields are strong fits. The program will also be posted to Handshake to reach students across departments in future cohorts.
Can this internship lead to a full-time job at Joon?
Yes — and it's a genuine pipeline. Joon runs 6-month cohorts specifically because it gives us time to evaluate talent properly. Successful interns are considered for full-time roles as part of our high-growth hiring strategy. This isn't a footnote — it's the point.
When do applications close?
Applications are open now. The first cohort has initial candidates identified, but spots are available. Future cohorts will be promoted quarterly through the Fowler College newsletter and Handshake. Apply early — we review on a rolling basis and close when the cohort is full.
