DHC Adopts Data-Driven Culture with GCP and Big Query

DHC Corporation, Japan’s No. 1 direct skincare company. DHC beauty products are a result of extensive research and development, as well as tailoring and expanding the line to suit the particular preferences and needs of the customers.


The Challenge

DHC needed a data platform and various data models to support business growth globally. They needed to collect data from various sources and centralize that data in a data warehouse. DHC also needed several data models including an RFM model to create actionable insights. For their RFM model we needed to define recency, frequency and monetary value using data from disparate data sources.

The Solution

We built DHC’s infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform giving multi-layer security functionality and granular access to their data sets. Using product lifetime data and invoicing data centralized in a Google BigQuery data warehouse we created our RFM model. For data sharing and exploration we built dashboards using Holistics and ad hoc visualizations were carried out using Google Data Studio.


The Results

Migration to Google Cloud has made DHC infrastructure more secure, flexible, and easy to scale capacity whenever required. Big Query allows granular access to data for improved data governance. Unified company-wide data models for advanced analytics, reports, and marketing campaigns gave DHC actionable insights. Google Data Studio enables the team to explore and embrace a data driven culture.
